The situation arising across Rajsamand and Udaipur due to the gruesome murder of the Bengali labourer by a fanatic is yet not under control, when another inter community scuffle led to a tense situation in Rajsamand today afternoon
Tarsingra, a small village in Kankroli nearly 65 km from Udaipur, was the hub of the situation, when people across two communities came to a face off laying claim to a parcel of land in the village. Barely 4km from Rajsamand, Tarsingra comes under the Pava panchayat.
As per information, people of a specific community installed an idol on a platform in a land in the village a few days back. Members another community have also claimed rights to the same land and submitted a memorandum to the district administration on Monday, after which the administration took action and removed the idol and also dismantled the platform.
When the people of the other community came to know of the action taken by the administration, they built the platform, and reinstated the idol. Members of the community also claimed that the administration had taken this action based on false claims to the land. A saffron flag was also put up at the site. This caused people from both communities coming face to face in the area, creating communal tension in the village and nearby areas.
Members of the community took a procession to present a memorandum to the Collector, and passed across major areas of the town, viz. Mukherjee Chowk, JK Crossing, Chowpatty, Old Bus Stand and Jal Chakki. This resulted in the entire area coming under a curfew like situation when all the shops in the area immediately downed their shutters, amidst fear of clashes. Even bank employees shut their offices and returned to the closest safe zone.
Earlier, assessing the situation, ASP Manish Tripathi and DSP Rajendra Singh rushed to the spot to control the situation. Soldiers from the Rapid Action Force (RAF) were also called into town and support from Rajnagar, Kankroli, Nathdwara, Kelwada, Delwada, Kelwa, Kunwariya and Delwa police stations was called in.
As per last reports, the situation remains tense.
