Udaipur, May 10, 2026: The political uncertainity in Tamil Nadu came to rest as TVK supremo CJ Vijay took oath as the Chief Minsiter of Tamil Nadu today. Vijay becomes the first Chief Minister since 1967, who is not from either of the major Dravidian parties - DMK and AIADMK.
Apart from Congress supremo Rahul Gandhi and other from various parties as well as TVK, Vijay's parents and members of the film fraternity in Tamil Nadu attended the swearing ceremony at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
The parties who extended support to TVK include INC, IUML, VCK, CPI and CPI(M). Of these, VCK, IUML, CPI and CPI(M) have chosen not to offically join the alliance. The key support came on Saturday, after which the Governor Arlekar confirmed the formation of the government. The key trust vote in the Assembly will be completed by May 13.
