Tejashwi Yadav is Mahagathbandhan’s CM Candidate for Bihar 2025
Mukesh Sahani named Deputy CM candidate; another Deputy CM to be announced soon

Oct 23, 2025 – Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has been declared as the Chief Ministerial face of the Opposition’s Mahagathbandhan. This was made public today by Congress leader Ashok Gehlot at a press conference in Patna, Bihar, held jointly by the Mahagathbandhan allies. He described Tejashwi as “young” and “committed” and a unilateral choice for the CM post.
Mukesh Sahani, chief of Vikassheel Insaan Party, is the alliance's Deputy Chief Minister candidate. “One more Deputy CM faced would be announced later,” said Gehlot who is the All India Congress Committee (AICC) senior observer for the Bihar Assembly polls.
Asking of the BJP to reveal their CM candidate, Gehlot said, "I want to ask Amit Shah... our leader is Tejashwi Yadav. Now they should confirm who is their (NDA) Chief Minister face."
Following the announcement, Tejashwi thanked the Mahagathbandhan partners and said the alliance will work jointly to rebuild Bihar.
The two-phase elections in Bihar will be held on November 6 and 11, with results to be announced on November 14.
