Udaipur marked the 20th Death Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi by organizing various social programs and condolence meetings today.

 

Udaipur marked the 20th Death Anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi by organizing various events and condolence meetings today.

National Students Union of India (NSUI), the frontal organization of Indian Youth Congress organized a mass blood donation camp in remembrance of the 20th Death Anniversary of ex-Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The camp was held at Saral Blood bank under the leadership of NSUI- Udaipur president Gaurav Bhandari. Other personalities including Youth Congress leader Karanveer Singh Choudhary, Devndra Singh Rathore Gen Sec (MLSU Univ) and other NSUI members also participated in the camp. More than 50 units of blood were donated to Saral Blood Bank.

In continuation of the special day, congress leaders and other party workers of Udaipur held a condolence meet at Congress House located near Chetak Circle.

Many prominent congress leaders including Dr. Madhusudan Sharma – dist. president, Sajjan Katara – MLA (rural), Trilok Purbia ex-MLA, Gopal Sharma- state representative, Promodini Baxi – women congress president, and city’s congress councilors were also present to give their tribute to the legendry leader Late. Later in the afternoon, members of Rajiv Gandhi Brigade gathered at Rajiv Gandhi Memorial at Rajiv Gandhi Park, rani road and paid their honor to the statue of Rajiv Gandhi by offering a ritual of milk bath.

K.K Sharma – national chief secretary, Prem Singh – chief secretary, Ayub Khan- councilor and all post holders of Rajiv Gandhi Brigade were present there.

Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated on 21st May 1991 in Tamil Nadu’s Sriperumbudur while he was on poll campaign.

This day is also observed as Anti-Terrorism Day.
