State Assembly Elections were concluded peacefully in city’s more than 100 polling booths today. According to sources, Udaipur District has recorded around 60-70% polls (the exact data is not yet confirmed officially).

State Assembly Elections were concluded peacefully in city’s more than 100 polling booths today. According to sources, Udaipur District has recorded around 60-70% polls (the exact data is not yet confirmed officially).

Despite of heavy security, few petty incidents of arguments and disorders were reported from few polling booths of the city.

UT reporters Sohail Khan, Sayeed Ahmed and Vipin Solanki were reporting from several areas of the city and presented a detailed report about the incidents

Political activist manhandled at Dhanmandi Polling Booth

A case of argument was reported from a polling booth at Dhanmandi Government Girls School (Ward No. 183) where a political leader was allegedly manhandled by the policemen. The politician had allegedly misbehaved with the security personnel.

400 names missing from Voter’s List

200 people from Boharwadi area were shocked to know that their names were not in the voting list. The puzzled voters started quarrelling with the present voting team. The situation was controlled by Dhanmandi Police Station C.I Rajendra Singh Jain.

When contacted ADM City Mohammad Yaseen Pathan, he said that the list is final and no amendment can be done now.

The similar case came up in VIP Colony, sector 9 where more than 200 people could not vote as their names were not listed.

The residents of the colony allege Booth Level Officer for negligence. There are 298 residents at VIP Colony and every house has at least three people eligible to vote.

One of the residents, Gajendra Nahar said that the BLO came a month back and filled the form from each resident.

Voting process was closed at 5 pm. However, a voting booth at Taiyyebiyah School, Delhi Gate witnessed chaos when a group of men gathered outside the polling booth even after the gate was locked. All of a sudden a man, who missed to vote, came running and requested to reopen the gate.

The situation was controlled after the BLO’s intervention in the matter and BLO let the person vote after reprimand him.

Fake Voter Detained from Hiran Magri

A young man from Gujarat was caught by the voting team while he allegedly attempted to cast fake vote. The incident occurred at Hiran Magri sector-4 today. The accused is identified as Ankit, resident of Modasa, Gujarat who was first caught by a BJP candidate under suspicion. The name on voter ID was Girish.

Election Candidate from Vallabh Nagar Assaulted

One of the contestants from Vallabh Nagar has alleged for being assaulted by the rival political group. Two people were reportedly injured in the incident. A police report is also lodged regarding the case.

According to Rajesh Singhvi, candidate from MCP informed that candidate Bhim Singh Sisodia and his son were allegedly beaten by the members of other political party after both had argument earlier in the morning.
