April 29, 2025 - Krishnamachari Srikkanth, popularly referred to as Kris Srikkanth, was once known for dominating bowlers fearlessly. A key member of India's 1983 World Cup-winning team, Srikkanth was among the first Indian openers to showcase an aggressive batting style against any bowler.

Yesterday, April 28, he expressed his admiration for a young talent on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.

"At 14, most kids dream and eat ice cream. Meanwhile, Vaibhav Suryavanshi has scored an incredible century against a team aiming for the IPL title! His composure, maturity and courage are far beyond his age. We are witnessing the rise of Indian cricket’s next superstar."

T20 cricket is known for power-hitting, and standout innings have become a regular feature. However, it is truly remarkable to see a 14-year-old take on world-class bowlers and score a century in just 35 balls.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has achieved exactly that, leaving cricket fans and legends amazed.

At an age when most teenagers focus on simple joys, Suryavanshi’s extraordinary performance is grabbing headlines.

The young batsman faced and dominated top international bowlers like Mohammad Siraj, veteran Test player Ishant Sharma, world-renowned spinner Rashid Khan and Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar. Suryavanshi played with such command and ease that he made these experienced bowlers look ordinary, announcing himself as a future star of world cricket at just 14.

The young prodigy is making headlines in the record books as he plays his third IPL match. India’s 14-year-old wonder boy has broken one record after another with his 35-ball century.

In this article, we will take a quick look at all the records Suryavanshi has broken.

Fastest and Second Fastest Centuries

Suryavanshi scored a century in just 35 balls, making it the second fastest century in IPL history and the fastest by an Indian. The previous Indian record was held by Yusuf Pathan, who scored a century in 37 balls for the Rajasthan Royals against the Mumbai Indians in 2010. Only Chris Gayle has scored a faster century - he hit a 30-ball hundred for RCB against Pune Warriors in 2013.

Youngest Centurion in T20 History

Suryavanshi is now the youngest player to score a century in both IPL and official T20 history. He was only 14 years and 32 days old at the time of this milestone. The previous record was held by Vijay Zol, who scored a century at 18 years and 118 days. Bangladesh's Parvez Hossain Emon is third, with a century at 18 years and 179 days.

Youngest to Score a 50 in IPL

Suryavanshi hit 11 sixes during his century, matching the record held by Murali Vijay for the most sixes in an innings by an Indian. The all-time record is held by Chris Gayle, who hit 17 sixes in a single innings.

Suryavanshi is now the fastest Indian to score an IPL century in terms of matches played. He achieved the feat in his third match. Earlier, Manish Pandey, Paul Valthaty and Priyansh Arya scored their first centuries in their fourth matches.
