The 31st Rajasthan State Junior Men and Women Power Lifting and 21st Rajasthan State Bench Press competition started today at the Luv Kush stadium.

Organised by the District Power Lifting Association, the event was inaugurated by Lal Singh Jhala (President for Congress- Rural), Khubilal Menaria (Ex-Chairmen, District Congress), Naresh Rajani (Businessman), Jagdish Gaud (Social worker), Vinod Paneri (Vice President, District Games Association) and Mahendra Singh Shekhawat (Nagar Parishad).

Lal Singh Jhala was all praise for the previous Power Lifting events that were held and promised to provide necessary help for the development of this sport.

Vinod Sahu said, ”We will be organizing International Power Lifting Championship in the month of May 2012, and the event will be from 1st May to 7th May. The purpose of this event will be to provide healthy exposure to the athletes of the city and the State”

53 Kg (Power Lift)

Gold: Narpat Singh (Udaipur) (302.5 kg);

Silver: Mohmmad Irfan (Banswada) (285 kg);

Bronze: Touseef Khan (Udaipur) (267.5 kg)

59 Kgs (Power Lift)

Gold: Vinod Kumar (Ganganagar) (465 kg);

Silver: Anirudh Acharaya (Bikaner) (425 kg);

Bronze: Vishal Gaud (Udaipur) (422.5 kg)

59 Kgs (bench press)

Gold: Afzal khan (Jaipur) (115 kg);

Silver: Vinod Kumar (Ganganagar) (100 kg)

Bronze: Vishal Gaud (Udaipur) (67.5 kg)

66 Kgs (bench press)

Gold: Sameer Khan (Udaipur)(150 kg)

Silver: Prem Chand Soni (Jaipur) (120 kg)

Bronze: Yogesh Mahavar (Alwar) (117.5 kg)

The 74kg; 83kg; 93kg and 105kg competition will be held tomorrow at the same venue, for both the Men and women categories.

On last day Bhupendra Kumar Vyas, the medal winner from Udaipur at the London Commonwealth Powerlifting Competition in 2011, will be honored and would be given a cheque of Rs. 65,000 by Mangi Lal Garasiya for his brilliant performance at the International level.
