3 more FIDE rated players in Udaipur
According to the new FIDE ranking list (July) released by the World Chess Federation, the names of Chayan Dureja, St. Anthony’s with a rating of 1327, Monika Sahu, Rajasthan Mahila Vidyalaya with a 1410 rating and Rishi Kumar Trivedi, Vice Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya Zawar Mines with a rating of 1687, have been added to the list of FIDE rated players from Udaipur.
According to the new FIDE ranking list (July) released by the World Chess Federation, the names of Chayan Dureja, St. Anthony’s with a rating of 1327, Monika Sahu, Rajasthan Mahila Vidyalaya with a 1410 rating and Rishi Kumar Trivedi, Vice Principal, Kendriya Vidyalaya Zawar Mines with a rating of 1687, have been added to the list of FIDE rated players from Udaipur.
The rating was achieved by the players on account of their performance at FIDE rated Chess Competition organized at Surat and Ajmer, as told to UdaipurTimes.com by Vikas Sahu, chess coach.
Adding to the list of accomplishments by the city’s chess players, Rajendra Teli became the first chess player in Rajasthan to be rated in all 3 types of the game, with 2016 FIDE rating, 2050 Rapid Rating and 2002 Blitz Rating. His performance at the National Rapid Chess Competition provided him with the achievement.
This makes a total of 44 FIDE rated players from Udaipur and about 190 in Rajasthan. St. Anthony’s School has the highest number of 9 FIDE rated players in the district.
FIDE, a French acronym for Fédération Internationale des Échecs (commonly known as World Chess Federation in English) is the governing body for International chess ratings and competitions. FIDE ratings, the higher the better, use Elo rating system developed by Arpad Elo.
Russian Chessmaster also known for his popular match with a computer(Deep Blue) holds the record for highest ever FIDE ranking of 2851. India’s own Grandmaster (A player with a FIDE rating more than 2500), Viswanathan Anand is ranked 6 worldwide presently with a rating of 2780.
