56th State Level Basketball Tournament (Under 17 & Under 19 Boys) organized under the aegis of MDS Senior Secondary School, saw its closing ceremony at MDS Auditorium, Sector-3, Hiran Magri, Udaipur.
The Final match for Under-19 Boys was won by Bhilwara against Sikar with the score of 79-75 while the final match for Under-17 Boys was won by Jaisalmer (H) against Jaipur-1 with the score of 86-58. It was more of a one-sided Final.
The Closing Ceremony, VIJAY was presided by the Director of MDS, Dr. Shailendra Somani who was also the joint Organizer of the tournament.
Dr. Somani informed that in all 65 teams comprising of more than 1000 players took part in this championship and a total 188 matches were played between all the teams under the strict supervision and superlative guidance of more than 70 match officials, some of them designated from Directorate Office, Education Department Bikaner.
Every player was examined medically before qualifying for the matches. This has been a remarkable tournament organized efficiently by MDS and Sports authorities of District Education Office, Udaipur.
Dr. Shailendra Somani, Director of MDS Sr. Sec. School says, “Our first priority was that the visiting teams, officials and players must feel comfortable during their stay in Udaipur. The standard of games displayed by the school students during the tournament was really remarkable and outstanding.
The Second runner-up trophy for Under-19 Boys went to Udaipur (SS). This was handed over by Mr. Dhirendra Singh Sachhan. Udaipur (SS), a first time entrant in the Basketball State Level Tournament won their match against a very powerful Kota team by a score of 58-31.
The Second runner-up trophy for Under-17 Boys went to Ganganagar. This was handed over by Mr. Dinesh Chordia. Ganganagar won their match against Nagore team in a nail-biting finish by a score of 45-44.
The Runner-up trophy for Under-19 Boys went to Sikar. This was handed over by Dr. Ramesh Chandra Somani, founder trustee of MDS Trust. Sikar, the last year champion lost the finals to Bhilwara.
The Runner-up trophy for Under-17 Boys went to Jaipur-1 who lost their final match against Jaisalmer(H).
To grace the occasion and to do the honours, Sports & Education State Minister Mangi Lal Garasiya, District Head Madhu Mehta, Founder Trustee of Mohan Devi Somani (MDS) Trust Dr. Ramesh Chandra Somani, Sports District Education Officer Mr. Govind Singh Chundawat, Additional District Education Officer Khel Shankar Vyas, eminent personalities like Dhirendra Singh Sachhan and Dinesh Chordia were present.
