February 13, 2026: Star India opener Abhishek Sharma missed the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 match against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi due to a stomach infection. He went to the hospital for medical tests. Although he was discharged soon after, he was not fully fit for the match.

With Abhishek not available, Sanju Samson opened the innings and scored 22 runs from just eight balls. He started well but could not continue for long.

After the match, spinner Varun Chakaravarthy shared a positive update. He said Abhishek may return for the big match against Pakistan. He also said that Abhishek took part in a practice session before the Namibia game.

“I think he will play the next match. I am not sure, but when I spoke to him, he looked fine and practiced today as well. He said he is getting better,” Varun told the media.

India Beat Namibia by 93 Runs

India won the match by 93 runs and moved closer to the Super 8 stage. Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya scored half-centuries and helped India post 209 runs in the first innings.

However, some batters did not perform well. Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, and Rinku Singh struggled with the bat. This could be a concern before the Pakistan match.

In bowling, Varun was the star. He took three wickets in two overs and gave away only seven runs. Axar Patel and Hardik also took two wickets each.
