Punjab set a big target, Hyderabad chased it down easily

On Saturday night, Punjab Kings batted first in Hyderabad and scored 245 runs for 6 wickets. But Hyderabad turned this mountain of runs from Preity Zinta’s team into plain ground. Thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s brilliant century, Hyderabad won the match by 8 wickets with 9 balls to spare.

Travis Head and Abhishek crushed Punjab’s bowlers

Chasing a huge target, Hyderabad’s openers — Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma — started aggressively. Both batters attacked Punjab’s bowlers and quickly took the team past the 100-run mark in the 8th over. At one point, it looked like the openers would finish the game on their own.

But Travis Head was dismissed after scoring 66 runs off 37 balls, including 9 fours and 3 sixes. After his exit, Abhishek reached his century and continued to attack. He finally got out after scoring a brilliant 141 runs off 55 balls, hitting 14 fours and 10 sixes. After Abhishek’s dismissal, Heinrich Klaasen (21*) calmly finished the match.

Punjab’s strong start but not enough for victory

Earlier, Punjab’s openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh gave their team a flying start, adding 66 runs together. Priyansh scored 36 runs off just 13 balls.

Prabhsimran later scored 42 runs off 23 balls. The real power came from Shreyas Iyer, who played a stunning knock of 82 runs off 36 balls, hitting 6 fours and 6 sixes. In the final overs, Marcus Stoinis added an unbeaten 34 runs from 11 balls, helping Punjab reach 245.

Punjab’s target wasn’t enough, Hyderabad climbs up the table

Even after such a huge total, Punjab could not stop Hyderabad. This was Punjab’s second loss in their five matches. On the other hand, Hyderabad, after four straight defeats, finally earned their second win in six matches and climbed to eighth place on the points table.
