July 20, 2026: Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan shared an emotional and thoughtful blog after staying awake to watch the FIFA World Cup 2026 final, where Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 after extra time. In his DAY 6725 blog, Bachchan reflected on Lionel Messi's defeat and wrote about how every sporting legend eventually reaches a stage when a new generation takes over. 

Expressing his disappointment over the result, he wrote, "the game .. over .. Spain the Champions and Messi lost .. tears of emotion .. sad .. but the day comes for every champion .. as you turn the corner, you find there are others better than you .. accept the love that came your way .. rest in that glory .." His words struck an emotional chord with football fans, as he praised Messi's remarkable career while accepting that change is a part of every sport.

Spain lifted their second FIFA World Cup title after defeating Argentina in a hard-fought final at the New York New Jersey Stadium. Ferran Torres came off the bench to score the winning goal in the 106th minute of extra time. Spain completely dominated the match, enjoying 68 per cent possession and registering 20 shots, including 11 on target. 

Argentina, on the other hand, failed to record a single shot on target and were reduced to 10 men after Enzo Fernandez received a red card in stoppage time of regulation. After reflecting on the World Cup final, Bachchan shifted his attention to his weekly Sunday meeting with fans outside his Mumbai residence, Jalsa. Despite heavy monsoon rain, hundreds of fans gathered outside his home to greet him. The actor thanked everyone who turned up and admired their dedication despite the difficult weather. He also shared a memorable incident involving a dog that was brought to the gathering wearing a raincoat and protected from the rain through a creative arrangement.

Sharing his admiration for the thoughtful gesture, Bachchan wrote, "... and as for this Champion .. only in INDIA .. covered and protected from the Monsoon .. was brought to GOJ for the Sunday meet .. would never know what he was doing there ..
