Kolkata Knight Riders have been dealt a huge blow after youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi was ruled out of IPL 2026 with a finger injury. With KKR still fighting for a playoff spot, the injury could significantly affect their campaign.
May 22, 2026: In a massive setback for the Kolkata Knight Riders, young batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi has reportedly been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 due to a finger injury. According to several media outlets, the talented youngster could be away from cricket for nearly three months as he continues his recovery.
The development comes at a crucial stage of the tournament, with KKR still mathematically alive in the race for the IPL 2026 playoffs. Raghuvanshi had already been ruled out of KKR’s upcoming clash against Delhi Capitals because of ICC concussion protocols following an on-field collision.
During KKR’s previous match against the Mumbai Indians, Raghuvanshi collided with teammate Varun Chakaravarthy while fielding. The impact left the youngster with dizziness, headaches, and neck discomfort, forcing the team management to replace him with substitute Tejasvi Dahiya during the game.
As per ICC concussion regulations, any player diagnosed with a concussion must complete a mandatory seven-day recovery period before returning to competitive action. Although the finger injury has now ended his IPL campaign, reports suggest that Raghuvanshi will continue travelling with the KKR squad until the end of the season.

Can KKR Still Qualify for the IPL 2026 Playoffs?
KKR still have a slim chance of reaching the playoffs, but qualification will depend heavily on other results.
- Matches Remaining: 1
- Opponent: DC
- Current Points: 13
- Maximum Possible Points: 15
If Kolkata defeat Delhi Capitals in their final game, they can finish with 15 points. However, they will also need both Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings to lose points in their remaining fixtures.
KKR have historically been one of the IPL’s most successful franchises, reaching the playoffs eight times in 18 seasons. Only Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians have qualified for the knockout stage more often.
