-Udaipur city will now begin with finswimming.
-Entry of a new sport is likely to add to the tourism importance of LakeCity.
Swimming Coach Dilip Singh Chouhan, Udaipur, has been appointed as National technical member of finswimming. The water guru and an extremely enthusiastic coach has another feather added to his cap. He is one of the 6 member team formed by Mayur Patil, Secretary for Indian Underwater Sports Association.
It is quite a well known fact that Dilip Singh Chouhan is quite a senior swimming coach of Rajasthan and has represented India as coach, manager, technical officer in more than ten under water championships during common-wealth games, Asian games etc.
He has been struggling for the last 40 years to give Rajasthan a recognition in swimming, water polo, diving etc. and has trained a lot of people from Udaipur like Bhakti Sharma and Gauravi Singhvi and has brought international recognition. He even encouraged and organised kayaking, canoeing, dragon boat etc water sports in Udaipur.
Finswimming is a kind of water sport consisting of techniques involving swimming using fins (monofins or bifins) either on the surface of water using snorkel or underwater using monofin either by holding one's breath or using a diving equipment.
The sport developed in Europe during the 1930s. The first competition was held in the Soviet Union in 1958.
