Sept 11, 2025: The Indian team started the Asia Cup 2025 with a win. In the first match of the tournament, India played against host UAE. The match was at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India won by 9 wickets.
Batting first, UAE was all out for 57 runs. In reply, India won the match in just 27 balls with 1 wicket down. Kuldeep Yadav was the hero of the win. He played a T20 International after 14 months, bowled very well, and took wickets. After the match, captain Suryakumar Yadav also spoke about the next game against Pakistan.
Chose to Bowl First
Suryakumar Yadav said about choosing to bowl first, “I wanted to see how the wicket is playing. The condition was the same in the second innings also. The players did very well. We wanted good attitude and energy on the field, and we got that. Recently many players came here for the Champions Trophy. The wicket looked good, but it was slow and spinners had an important role.”

Surya said it is very hot in UAE right now and Kuldeep bowled really well. Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, and Jasprit Bumrah also gave good support. About Abhishek’s batting, Surya said, “He is the number one batsman in the world right now. He sets the tone, whether we chase 200 or 50. His performance is amazing. Everyone is excited for the match against Pakistan.”

Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets for 7 runs in 2.1 overs with an economy of 3.20. Shivam Dube also bowled tightly and took 3 wickets for 4 runs in 2 overs. Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakraborty took 1 wicket each.
In batting, Abhishek Sharma scored 30 runs from 16 balls, while Shubman Gill stayed not out with 20 runs from 9 balls.
