Udaipur, Aug 15 2025: After the England tour, the Indian cricket team is looking at the upcoming Asia Cup. The players will rest for the whole month of August. After that, they will play in the Asia Cup.

As per reports, the Indian Cricket team for the Asia Cup 2025 will be selected on August 19 at Mumbai, which starts on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates. After the selection meeting, chief selector and former Indian fast bowler Ajit Agarkar will hold a press conference.

Suryakumar Yadav remains captain

It is being said that India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav will also attend the selection meeting. He will travel from Bengaluru to Mumbai. Suryakumar is currently doing rehab after sports hernia surgery at the BCCI's Center of Excellence (COE). However, he has started batting in the nets. It is believed that Surya will continue as the T20I captain.

Players Who Might Be Rested

This has ended all rumors about India's new Test captain Shubman Gill getting the T20 captaincy. There is news that India wants to open with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, but Gill has also claimed a place in the team. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who batted well on the England tour, and middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer may not be selected. The selectors have asked Jaiswal to focus on Test cricket for now.

The Asia Cup in T20 format will start from September 9. Team India will play its first match on September 10. A match against Pakistan is planned for September 14. All matches will be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
