IND vs PAK: India Score 'Four' of Victory in Asia Cup, Gill-Abhishek Seal the Show
India Dominates Run Chase After Pakistan’s Explosive Start; Abhishek scored a commanding 74 of 39 deliveries...
Udaipur, Sept 21, 2025: He promised to give the people of India a beautiful Sunday. Suryakumar Yadav kept his word. He did not do much with the bat, but he did not need to. Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma were enough. Pakistan again suffered because of them. In the group stage of the Asia Cup or in the Super Four, the story was the same. India won by 6 wickets with 7 balls left at the Dubai Stadium. India’s Super Four campaign started well with a win over Pakistan.
Pakistan Innings
Salman Ali Agha’s batting was poor in the group stage, but he showed some improvement today. However, if Kuldeep Yadav and Abhishek Sharma had not missed several easy catches, Pakistan’s batting could have collapsed earlier. Jasprit Bumrah also did not do well with the ball. Still, Pakistan looked a little brave today.
The Indian captain won the toss and chose to bowl. But Sahibzada Farhan batted aggressively from the start. Fakhar Zaman set the tone by scoring 15 runs in just 9 balls. Ayub, who had not scored in the ongoing Asia Cup, came at number three and made 21 runs. Even though no one in the Pakistani middle order scored big, small contributions kept the run rate going. Salman Agha scored 17, Hussain Talat 10, Mohammad Nawaz 21, and Faheem Ashraf 20. Farhan scored 58 runs off 45 balls. Pakistan’s total reached 171 with teamwork.
India's Clinical Response
In recent times, India vs Pakistan matches have been one-sided, and this score seemed competitive. But Abhishek Sharma made it clear from the first ball of India’s innings that India was in control. Shaheen Shah Afridi’s first ball went for a boundary. From then on, Abhishek and Shubman Gill kept scoring fours and sixes. It looked like a friendly race between the two to see who would reach a half-century first. Abhishek won, and Gill was out for 47. By then, Pakistani bowlers were under pressure. The two had a 105-run partnership.
After Gill got out, Suryakumar Yadav came in and in an attempt to keep up the tempo, returned to the pavilion immediately, much to the relief of the Pakistan bowlers. Abhishek continued to bat aggressively and hit Abrar for a six in the 13th over. But he got out to Harris Rauf when on 74 runs. India missed a few catches, but Pakistan did not. When Abhishek left, India needed only 46 runs to win. Sanju Samson, the hero of the Oman match, scored 13. Hardik Pandya and Tilak Verma finished the rest. India won by 6 wickets.
Even though India won comfortably, two things may worry them: missed catches and the old middle-order problem. If they fix these, India will be unstoppable.
This match will be remembered not just for Pakistan’s explosive start, but also for Abhishek Sharma’s match-winning innings that tilted the game firmly in India’s favor.
