Asia Cup Drama: Pakistan Walks Away Without Even Calling It a Boycott! Know How

 |

Sept 16, 2025: The problems of the Pakistan cricket team have increased in the Asia Cup 2025. After a big loss against India, their place in the Super-4 is now in danger. Not only this, the no-handshake issue has made the matter worse.

During the India vs Pakistan match, captain Suryakumar Yadav did not shake hands with the Pakistani players at the toss and even after the game. The whole Indian team supported him.

After the border tension and the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Indian players decided to keep distance from Pakistan. The PCB was not happy with this and complained to the ICC and ACC, saying it was against the ‘Spirit of Cricket’. PCB has also asked for match referee Andy Pycroft to be removed. They warned that if ICC does not remove Andy from the tournament, Pakistan will boycott the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, ACC is weighing possible disciplinary action against the Indian team for the no-handshake episode.

What if Pakistan Boycotts the Match?

If Pakistan does not play against UAE (PAK vs UAE), then the result will go in favor of Muhammad Wasim’s team. In this case, Pakistan will stay with only two points from their win against Oman, which will not be enough to reach the Super-4 stage.

UAE, who defeated Oman by 42 runs, will get four points if Pakistan boycotts the game. With this, UAE will join India in the Super-4. However, if the Pakistan vs UAE match is washed out due to rain, Pakistan can still move ahead because of a better net run rate.

Do or Die for Pakistan

In Group-A of Asia Cup 2025, Pakistan is second in the points table with only two points. India has already reached the Super-4. The Pakistan vs UAE match in Dubai on 17 September will be a do-or-die game for both teams.

UAE captain Muhammad Wasim has a chance to create history. After the big win over Oman, their confidence is high, and they will look to cause the biggest upset by beating Pakistan. On the other hand, Pakistan must win at all costs. After the loss to India, their morale is low, and captain Salman Ali Agha will need to get the best out of his players.
