The Men in Blue began their campaign with a win over the USA at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. February 10. 2026: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly rejected a request from the Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team to allow players’ families to travel with them during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament is currently taking place in India and Sri Lanka, with India competing in Group A alongside Pakistan, Namibia, USA, and the Netherlands.

The Men in Blue began their campaign with a win over the USA at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The issue comes from the BCCI’s updated travel and support staff rules, which usually do not allow family members on tours. Families can join the team only for two weeks if the tour lasts more than 45 days.

The board’s rule is meant to keep players focused and ensure smooth operations during a busy tournament schedule.

BCCI Denies Family Travel Requests for Indian Players

The Indian team management had asked the BCCI if wives and fiancées could travel with the team and stay with the players. A BCCI source told The Indian Express:
"Families will not stay with the players. They can make separate arrangements if they want to."

The source also said that any player who wants an exception must pay for the travel costs themselves, as the BCCI will not cover expenses for family members.
