Bengaluru FC Held to 1-1 Draw by NorthEast United FC in ISL 2025-26 Clash

Bengaluru FC and NorthEast United FC played out a 1-1 draw in an exciting Indian Super League clash at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. Braian Sánchez gave Bengaluru the lead, but Lalrinzuala’s second-half goal helped the visitors earn their first point of the season.

February 23, 2026: Bengaluru FC played out a 1-1 draw against NorthEast United FC in Match 11 of the Indian Super League 2025-26 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. The home side took the lead in the first half, but the visitors fought back after the break to earn their first point of the season.

Braian Sánchez scored for Bengaluru in the 20th minute with a powerful shot from outside the box. However, Lalrinzuala equalised in the 68th minute with a calm finish over Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. He was later named Player of the Match.

Both coaches made one change in defence before the game. NorthEast United head coach Juan Pedro Benali brought in Robin Yadav, while Bengaluru head coach Renedy Singh introduced Takhellambam Bungson Singh.

NorthEast United started the match strongly. Parthib Gogoi tested Sandhu in the opening minute. Jithin Madathil Subran and other players also created chances. Míchel Zabaco even hit the woodwork from a corner.

Despite this early pressure, Bengaluru scored first. Ashique Kuruniyan set up Sánchez, who cut inside and scored with a right-footed strike into the bottom corner.

Before half-time, NorthEast United kept attacking but could not find the equaliser. They went into the break trailing 0-1.

Lalrinzuala Makes the Difference

After the break, NorthEast United continued to push forward. Sandhu made important saves to keep Bengaluru ahead. Benali then brought on Lalrinzuala in the 64th minute.

Just four minutes later, Lalrinzuala scored. He controlled a long pass inside the box and chipped the ball over Sandhu to make it 1-1.

In the final minutes, both teams tried to score the winning goal. Sunil Chhetri and Ryan Williams came close for Bengaluru. NorthEast United also created chances, but Sandhu made more saves.

In the end, neither team could score again, and the match finished 1-1 in an exciting contest at the Kanteerava Stadium.
