Illustrious swimmer and Udaipur’s Mermaid, Bhakti Sharma has received the prestigious Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award on the occasion of National Sport’s Day yesterday on August 29 at Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Bhakti was honored by the President of India Pranab Mukherjee with an admiration certificate, a memento and Rs.5 Lac cash for her swimming achievements in the year 2011.

The felicitation ceremony which was held at Ashoka Hall, Rashtrapati Bhawan also consisted of giving away of other top sporting awards including Rajiv Ganghi Khel Ratna Award, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award, Dhyan Chand Award and Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar.

Virendra Poonia of Rajasthan received the Dronacharya Award.
