Bhakti Sharma to get Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award from President
Swimming sensation and wonder girl of Udaipur, Bhakti Sharma is going to be honored with the prestigious Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award for her invincible achievements in adventure swimming.
Swimming sensation and wonder girl of Udaipur, Bhakti Sharma is going to be honored with the prestigious Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award for her invincible achievements in adventure swimming.
Bhakti will be awarded on 29th August (Sports Day) by the President of India; the same day on which the Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award and Dronacharya Award will be given at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Bhakti Sharma will be honored with a Memento, an Admiration Certificate and Rs.5 Lac Cash for her achievements in the year 2011.
The award ceremony will be held under the directives of the Central Ministry of Sports. Besides Bhakti, two more sports persons Colonel Anand Swaroop and Subedar Rajendra Singh Jalal will receive the Tenzing Norgay Award for Land Adventure, while the Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Mandeep Singh Soin.
Bhakti Sharma holds a number of swimming records; she is the youngest swimmer to swim over the seven seas including four oceans. Her mother, Leena Sharma is herself a swimmer and coach to Bhakti.
Presently, Bhakti is studying in Bangalore.
