Boxers from Udaipur return victorious
Suraj Soni, from Udaipur won a bronze in the 28th National Sub-Junior Boxing Championship held in Akola, Maharashtra, which was concluded on 1st Sept.
Suraj Soni, from Udaipur won a bronze in the 28th National Sub-Junior Boxing Championship held in Akola, Maharashtra, which was concluded on 1st Sept.
The championship which started on 26th Aug 2012 resulted well for Boxers from lakecity, as all the three, including Suraj Soni, Chetan Singh and Vinay Dharu reached Quarter Final rounds.
Suraj Soni (50 Kg Group) grabbed Bronze for the win over Ravi Kumar, Arunachal by 17-15 points. Though, he defeated Sivan Kidpoae, Assam in Pre-Quarter Final by 10-5 points, Soni faced defeat in semi-finals from Harivansh Tikara, Maharashtra with 5-6 points.
Chetan Singh (42 Kg Group) won over S. Elvin, A.P. with 9-2 points in Pre-Quarter Finals, but lost to Deepak Singh, Punjab in Quarter Finals by 21-22 as individual score, after securing a tie score of 8-8 in rounds.
Vijay Dharu (57 Kg Group) lost in Quarter Final from S.K. Singh, Mizoram by 6-8 points. He won over Sunil, M.P. in Pre-Quarter Finals by 4-1 points.
Fateh Singh Rathore, Secretary, Udaipur District Amateur Boxing Club informed that, the three were welcomed heartedly by the members of association and others when they returned to city.
The welcoming and appreciation was done by members and officials, including Dalpat Singh Chundawat (President), Bhanwar Lal Sharma, Ramnarayan Kothari, Sanjay Soni (Secretary), Narpat Singh Chundawat (Coach, National Team & State Sports Council), Praveen Paneri (Senior Boxer), Chunni Lal Chanderia, Deependra Singh Chauhan (Coach, University) and Pawanjeet Singh Bhati.
