Udaipur, March 29, 2025: Rumors had been circulating since Brazil's 4-1 defeat against Argentina a couple of days ago, and on March 28, they were confirmed. Coach Darival Junior has been officially sacked by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF).
The news was announced in a statement by the CBF, which read: "The Brazilian Confederation announces that Coach Darival Junior is no longer in charge. The board thanks him and wishes him well for the future". From now on, the CBF will search for his replacement.
Success with Flamengo and Sao Paulo
Darival Junior earned the opportunity to coach Brazil after his successful stints with Flamengo and Sao Paulo. He took over as the Seleção head coach in January 2024, starting on a positive note with a 1-0 victory over England at Wembley. However, his success as Brazil's coach was short-lived.
