Ancelotti's Brazil Move Turns Into a Family Affair: Son and Son-in-Law Join Coaching Team

Udaipur, May 17, 2025: Carlo Ancelotti has started building the coaching staff for the Brazilian national team. There will be five Italians and one Brazilian in the team. Ancelotti will officially take charge as head coach of Brazil on May 26. He will bring with him four staff members who worked with him at Real Madrid. Along with them, Claudio Taffarel, a former Brazilian goalkeeper and 1994 World Cup winner, will join as the goalkeeper coach. According to Globo Sport, Ancelotti is also including his son and son-in-law in Brazil’s coaching staff.

David Ancelotti Will Join as Assistant Coach

David Ancelotti, Carlo Ancelotti’s son, is currently his assistant at Real Madrid. According to Globo Sport, David has confirmed that he will be part of Brazil’s coaching staff for the World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay in June. However, it is still not clear how long he will stay with the team. David, 35, wants to begin his own career as a head coach. He has already received an offer from Rangers in Scotland and is also in talks with Italian club Como.

David started working with his father in 2012 at PSG as a fitness coach. In 2016, he became an assistant coach at Bayern Munich. Since then, he has worked with Ancelotti at Napoli, Everton, and both terms at Real Madrid.

Son-in-law Fulco and Other Italians in Coaching Staff

Another key figure in the staff is Beniamino Fulco, Ancelotti’s son-in-law. He is married to Ancelotti’s eldest daughter, Katia. Fulco, known as Mino, joined Ancelotti in 2013. He worked as a nutritionist during Ancelotti's first stint at Real Madrid and now serves as an assistant coach and fitness trainer.

Francesco Mauri, another Italian, will also join the staff. He began working with Ancelotti at PSG and became assistant coach in 2018 at Napoli. He specializes in rehabilitation and fitness.

Performance Analyst Montanaro to Join Brazil Staff

Simone Montanaro, 52, will serve as the performance analyst. He started his career at Roma and has worked at clubs like Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Milan, and Sevilla. He joined Ancelotti’s staff in 2018.

Backup Plan: Paul Clement May Replace David

If David Ancelotti leaves early to begin his coaching career, Ancelotti may bring back Paul Clement. The English coach has worked with him at Chelsea, PSG, Bayern, and during his first term at Real Madrid.

Taffarel to Continue as Goalkeeper Coach

Ancelotti will not take Real Madrid’s Antonio Pintas and Luis Lopis to Brazil. Instead, Claudio Taffarel, Brazil’s long-time goalkeeper coach and 1994 World Cup winner, will continue in his role. Taffarel became Brazil’s goalkeeper coach in 2014 under coach Dunga.

Brazil's Upcoming Matches

Carlo Ancelotti will officially take charge on May 26, and announce a 23-man squad for Brazil’s World Cup Qualifiers. Brazil will play Ecuador on June 6 and Paraguay on June 11.
