Jasprit Bumrah now holds the record for the fastest bowler to take 50 wickets at home in terms of balls
Udaipur, Oct 04, 2025: Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah bowled well in the first Test match against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. His strong performance gave him a special milestone.
In this match, Bumrah took 3 wickets in 14 overs. With this, he became the fastest Indian bowler to take 50 wickets at home. He is tied with Javagal Srinath, as both reached 50 wickets at home in 24 Test matches. Kapil Dev, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammed Shami are also on the list. Kapil Dev did it in 25 matches, while Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami reached the mark in 27 matches each.
Bumrah Creates New Record
Jasprit Bumrah now holds the record for the fastest bowler to take 50 wickets at home in terms of balls. He reached this milestone in 1,747 balls. Bumrah, who made his Test debut in 2018, has taken 222 wickets in 49 Test matches for India, including 15 five-wicket hauls.
With his third wicket against West Indies, Bumrah also became the first Indian fast bowler to take 50 Test wickets on home soil in the World Test Championship (WTC). He has achieved this in 13 WTC matches in India. Earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin (149 wickets) and Ravindra Jadeja (94 wickets) had crossed 50 WTC wickets at home.
