The World No. 1 struggled to move for about an hour but eventually recovered. After an intense five-hour 27-minute match, he won 6-4, 7-6(5), 6-7(3), 6-7(4), 7-5. In his post-match interview with Jim Courier, Alcaraz said his self-belief helped him win against Zverev.
Alcaraz will next face the winner of the second semi-final between Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic on January 30. The final could see another Alcaraz vs Sinner clash, but Djokovic may be a tough challenge to beat.

He said: "Believing. Believing all the time. I always say that you have to believe in yourself no matter what struggles you are going through. I was struggling in the middle of the third set. Physically, it was one of the most demanding matches I’ve played in my short career. But I knew what I had to do. I had to put my heart into the match. I think I did it. I fought until the last ball. I was patient in the fifth set. I’m extremely proud of my serve and the way I came back in the fifth set."
