US Open 2025: Carlos Alcaraz Beats Jannik Sinner to Claim Title, Climbs to World No. 1

Sept 08, 2025: In the US Open 2025 Men's Singles final, Carlos Alcaraz defeated world number one and last year's champion Jannik Sinner to win the US Open title again after three years. With this victory in the last Grand Slam of the year, the Spanish player has also regained the number one spot in the ATP rankings after two years.

21-year-old Alcaraz won the sixth Grand Slam of his career last night and became the second youngest player after Bjorn Borg to do so. The match result was 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Alcaraz took just two hours and 42 minutes to win his second major title of the year by defeating a strong opponent. Earlier this year, he also won the French Open by defeating Sinner.

Alcaraz Fights Hard Against Sinner

Even though Alcaraz lost to Sinner in the Wimbledon final, he stayed strong at the US Open after winning Cincinnati. If he had won the final without losing a set, he would have made history. But that did not happen. In the first set, the Spanish player broke Sinner’s serve. He used strong serves and a powerful backhand to win the first set 6-2, hitting 11 winners.

Sinner, who made many unforced errors in the first set, came back in the second set. The 24-year-old Italian ran from one side of the court to the other, keeping Alcaraz busy. He broke Alcaraz’s serve and won the second set 6-3. After that, Alcaraz took control and won the next two sets to win the match.

Alcaraz Speaks After Winning

After winning, Alcaraz thanked his team and said, “All the credit goes to you.” He also thanked the US Open and said, “This tournament is very special for me. It is an honor to play here. I feel at home. I have felt the love of the fans. I tried to give the best tennis gift. You made everything easy for me.”
