Checkmate! National Chess Championship at CPSIn the memory of Late Rajeev Gandhi and Mr. Dheeraj Murdia, The National Under-20 Open Chess Championship was inaugurated by Ms. Girja Vyas on 5 th December 2010 at CPS School Udaipur. This 5 day (5 th to 9 th Dec) championship is organized by Ladji Chess School and CPS School on behalf of District Chess Association Udaipur and Rajasthan State Chess Association under guidance of Chess Association of India. Udaipur’s and other state’s chess players will participate in the tournament. The entire championship is divided into 8 different rounds, player winning most of the rounds will be awarded with first prize of Rs. 40,000/- and rest of the winners will be honored with Rs. 20000/- second runner up, Rs.10000/- third runner up and other consolation prizes. Many students from different prominent schools of Udaipur are participating in the national level event. The organizing committee has provided free accommodation to participants coming from other cities. The zeal among the players straightly show which direction the future of this royal game is going.
