Chess Tournament: Brilliant Performance by Lake City Players
The chess players of Udaipur proved their excellence in the ‘State Level FIDE rated Chess Tournament’ concluded at Railway Institute, Ajmer. The tournament was organized by Ajmer District Chess Association and All Rajputana Chess Association.

Vikas Sahu, the Team Manager and Trainer said, “In this 9 round event, total 29 players from the lakecity participated. Rajendra Teli won 5th position with 6.5 points, bagging Rs. 2000. In under-17 female round, Parul Porwal grabbed second position with the prize amount of Rs. 500. Chayan Dureja was placed second in Under-19, winning Rs. 500 and Arpita Jain won Rs.1000 in the same category for females.”
He added, “Monika Sahu was placed second in Under-19 females and won Rs. 500. Other players including Ojas Shukla, Swany Bhargav, Yogesh Hingad, Yugansh Shukla, Jyoti Mehra, Vibhav Pamecha, Harsh Jain, Dhruv Dak, Smridhi Mehra, Alpesh Patni, Kapil Garg, Vandan Lodha, Saksham Mehra, Gokul Pillai, Pallav Chaudhary, Yash Jain, Harshit Babel, Prabhav Maheshwari, Daksh Jain and Hemang Joshi also performed well in the sessions. Many of them also got International FIDE ratings and some qualified for FIDE rating.”
The players who got the FIDE ratings would be listed in the FIDE rating list due in July ’12. Rajendra Teli was also selected to play in the National ‘B’ Chess Tournament, which will be organized from 18th May to 28th May, 2012.
The youngest to play from the lake city was 6 years old Rahul Sharma who scored 25 points in 9 rounds.
