Phool Singh Meena, MLA, announced the financial clearance for setting up International level Astro Turf in Khelgaon at Udaipur. Once done, Udaipur will be able to host international level hockey matches at this facility.

Meena made this announcement on behalf of State Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria. He said that Rs 5.5 Crores have been cleared for setting up Rajasthan’s third hockey Astro turf in Udaipur. Jaipur and Ajmer already host an Astro Turf.

The announcement for Astro Turf was made by Central Sports Minister Piyush Goyal during his December visit to Udaipur.

The field will be made as per international standards. It will have synthetic surface along with sprinkler system, drainage system, tubewell, changing room and other essential facilities.

Construction work for the stadium will begin soon.
