Commerce College Wins Inter College Basketball Tournament
In a close knit final match between Commerce and Arts Colleges, Commerce College defeated Arts by 46-41 in the MLSU inter-collegiate Women’s Basketball tournament at MB Ground today.
In a close knit final match between the College of Commerce and Management Studies (CCMS) and College of Arts, CCMS defeated Arts by 46-41 in the MLSU Inter-Collegiate Women’s Basketball tournament at MB Ground today.
Mohanlal Sukhadia University Intercollegiate Basketball (W) Tournament was organized by Advent Institute of Management Science & Technology (UG); the tournament started on 22 October, 2012.
At the start of the match, Dr. Amitha Singhvi, Principal, Advent College congratulated the teams for participation and wished them best of luck. She emphasized on playing to the true spirit of the game.
Organizing Secretary, Sanjay Parasher briefed that 7 teams from MLSU constituent and affiliated colleges participated in the event.
League matches were held in the morning session on 22 Oct. wherein SGGG College, Banswara defeated Guru Nanak Girls College, Udaipur by 28-6, while College of Arts, Udaipur defeated College of Science, Udaipur by 49-0. CCMS defeated MG College by 54-0. Last years winners BN College got a bye in the draw.
In the evening session, semifinal matches were played in which Arts College defeated SGGG College Banswara by a score of 65-02 to secure a place in the finals. In second semifinal, Commerce College defeated BN College by 38-6 to contest in the finals.
Finals were held today on 23rd Oct on the MB Grounds. In a very close match CCMS took the honors by beating the Arts fraternity team by a miniscule margin of 5 points.
The event concluded with the valedictory session. Prof. D. S. Chundawat, Chairman of the University Sports Board was the Chief Guest.
In his address to the participants, he motivated them to keep up the performance and also assured that the University Sports Board, MLSU would provide all possible facilities for the development of sports. Seeing the potential among the players, he encouraged the players to prepare a good team for West Zone Inter-University Competition and promised to provide full support for the betterment of sports.
This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony. University Observer for the event was Hemraj Choudhary. Match Referee and Selector for trials of the event were Jaswant Singh and Moin Ahmed. The Score Keeper and the Time Keeper for the event were Narendra and Bhanwar Vijay.
Selection trials for University level were held on 23/10/2012 on the basis of which the University team was selected.
