Cricket Mourns Dharmendra’s Passing: Kohli, Gambhir and Stars Share Heartfelt Tributes
Udaipur, Nov 25, 2025: Many Indian cricketers have paid tribute to the late actor Dharmendra. Born in Punjab in 1935, Dharmendra passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 89. He started his career in the early 1960s after being discovered in a talent hunt and later became a well-known name in Bollywood.
He was also awarded the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian award, for his excellent work in Indian cinema. His family includes his first wife, Prakash Kaur, and their four children: Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajeta Deol, and Vijayta Deol; his second wife, Hema Malini, and their two daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol.
Virat Kohli shared a message, writing, "Today, we lost a legend of Indian cinema, who won hearts with his charm and talent. A true icon who inspired everyone. May the family find strength in this difficult time. My deepest condolences to the whole family."
India head coach Gautam Gambhir wrote, "His personality and charm were like no other! He was my family’s favorite."
Mohammad Kaif said, "I am from Amitabh Bachchan’s hometown, but I loved Viru as much as I loved Jai. Everyone loved Dharmendra; I have never met anyone who was not a fan. RIP legend."
VVS Laxman shared, "I am deeply sad about the passing of Dharmendra ji, a timeless star whose presence brightened the screen and our lives. His legacy will always stay in our hearts. My prayers are with his family. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti."

Navjot Singh Sidhu shared a photo of himself with Dharmendra and wrote, "The most handsome actor I’ve ever seen, with a heart of gold. 'Sholay' will always be the greatest Hindi film. A father figure to me and a legend forever. May his family bear this irreparable loss."
Former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag wrote on X, "Dharmendra ji wasn’t just an actor, he was an era. A star in simplicity, a hero in strength, and a heart of gold. His films, style, and kindness will be remembered for generations. A great artist, may his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti."

India’s World Cup-winning all-rounder Deepti Sharma shared a photo of Dharmendra on Instagram, writing, "Dharmendra ji was not just a film star but a true hero who made us believe we can dream and achieve with love in our hearts. We will all miss him! Om Shanti."
Shikhar Dhawan wrote, "You were not just tall in stature, but also in spirit. Dharmendra ji, thank you for showing us that strength can be kind. Om Shanti."
Indian Premier League team Punjab Kings shared a photo on X, saying, "Parde te amar, te saade dilan wich vi hamesha le amar!" which means "Immortal on screen, and forever immortal in our hearts."
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) shared a photo of Dharmendra and called him "The He-Man of Bollywood." They also posted a photo of him with team co-owners Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, writing, "Rest in peace, Dharmendra ji."
Delhi Capitals wrote, "Goodbye to a legend. Our condolences to Dharmendra ji’s family, friends, and fans around the world."
