May 26. 2025 - Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ended their IPL 2025 campaign on a high note with a big 83-run win over Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday, May 25. After choosing to bat first, the five-time champions scored a huge total of 230 runs in 20 overs. Devon Conway and Dewald Brevis both hit half-centuries.

In reply, GT could not come close to the target and were bowled out for just 147 runs. Even though CSK dominated the match, there was a moment when captain MS Dhoni got angry at some of his teammates.

Dhoni Upset with Dubey, Pathirana

This incident happened during the 10th over of GTs’ innings. Shivam Dube gave away 18 runs in that over. Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan were building a strong partnership and hitting boundaries regularly. After the over ended, Dhoni looked upset because his advice and fielding instructions were not being followed. He was particularly upset with Matheesha Pathirana and Dube.

Skipper's Strategy

Ravindra Jadeja came to bowl the 11th over, and Dhoni made some fielding changes. His strategy worked right away. On the very first ball, Jadeja dismissed Shahrukh, who was caught by Pathirana at short third man. Three balls later, Jadeja also took the wicket of Sai. The commentators praised Dhoni's smart captaincy during this turning point of the match.

After the match, Dhoni said: "It was good. I won’t say the stadium was full, but the crowd was decent. It’s a big ground. We didn’t have a great season, but it felt nice to finish with a win. Both our batting and bowling were good today. We didn’t field well in some games, but IN this match our fielding and catching were better."

Will Dhoni Play Next Season?

When asked if he will play next season, Dhoni replied, “It depends. I have 4-5 months to decide. No need to rush. Every year, it takes 15% more effort to keep the body fit. You have to give your best. This is top-level, professional cricket. You can't always rely only on performance.”
