Udaipur, April 7, 2025: MS Dhoni, who started his international cricket career in 2004, achieved great success over the years. He played with many legendary players like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Sourav Ganguly. Soon after becoming the captain of Team India, Dhoni also led these senior players.
His career lasted for around 16 years. After playing with seniors, he built a strong young team which included players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. However, Dhoni never officially picked his dream team.
Indian Legends for Dream Team
It’s no surprise that when MS Dhoni was asked to pick his dream team without any limits on nationality or era, he selected only Indian players. After naming three players, however, the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman stopped short of choosing any more and explained why he never picks a dream team.
Dhoni's Dream Team Selection
"Yes, I will stick with my Indian players. Veeru pa (Virender Sehwag) will open the innings. So, Veeru pa, Sachin, and Dada (Sourav Ganguly). Because, you know, when you imagine everyone at their peak, the beauty is that when you watch them play, you feel there’s no one better than them. But cricket is a game of ups and downs. So, it’s difficult to pick, but growing up, we all saw these players perform really well," Dhoni said in a podcast with Raj Shamani.
Enjoy All Players’ Performances
Dhoni further mentioned that since these players have contributed so much to the success of Indian cricket, he would rather enjoy their performances.
He added, "You know, when Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) was hitting sixes, you’d say you don’t want to see anyone else. So, why should I pick just one? Why can’t I enjoy everyone? They have all contributed to India’s success, ensuring we won many tournaments wherever we played."
