Asia Cup Snub: Dhruv Jurel Praises Gautam Gambhir

Udaipur, Aug 28, 2025: “He always tells me that I can talk to him anytime or even call him. He says he will always support me and asks me to keep working hard. It feels great when the head coach talks like this. It gives confidence.” This was Dhruv Jurel's statement on Indian Head Coach Gautam Gambhir.

Jurel was among the players who were not picked up for the Indian side in the Asia Cup tournament that begins next month in the UAE. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravi Bishnoi and Shreyas Iyer were among the recognised names that were not picked up for the T20 Asia Cup tournament. Jurel has been a part of the Indian team for quite a while and has played in both the Test as well as T20 format for the national side. He began his career in 2024 and since then, he has played 5 Tests and 4 T20s for India.

Jurel in UP T20 League

Dhruv Jurel is playing well in the UP T20 League. He is captaining the Gorakhpur Lions in this tournament. Still, he was not selected in the Asia Cup 2025 team. Sanju Samson is the main wicketkeeper in the squad, while Jitesh Sharma has been picked as the second wicketkeeper. Many feel Jurel could have got a chance instead of Jitesh, but that did not happen.
