July 2, 2025 - The Indian cricket team is ready for the second Test match and is fully prepared to take on the challenge of England at Edgbaston. In this match, all eyes are on whether Jasprit Bumrah will play or not. There has been constant discussion about Bumrah’s workload management, and it is already known that he will play only three matches on this tour. That is why there is doubt about his availability for the second Test.
A day before the match, skipper Shubman Gill gave a clear update about Bumrah’s availability. Gill said whether Bumrah will play in the second match or not. Bumrah is the team’s main bowler, and he took five wickets in the first innings of the Headingley Test. His presence or absence can make a big difference in the match.
Gill Clears Doubt
In the press conference on July 1, Gill confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah is available. He said, “Bumrah is definitely available. We just have to manage his workload. We will decide our final playing combination after today’s net session.”
Gill also added that Bumrah will be missed if he doesn’t play. He said, “Before the series started, we already knew that Bumrah would play only three matches. We have planned accordingly. Of course, we’ll miss him, but we have our own strategies.”
Net Session Shows Something Different
However, in Monday’s practice session, a different picture was seen. Akash Deep, Mohammad Siraj and Prasidh Krishna bowled for a longer time in the nets. Bumrah was seen watching them instead of bowling himself, which raised doubts about his participation in the second Test. It seemed that Akash Deep might replace him.
