Talking about the later ones, these days, 3 ambitious boys can be seen at M.B Stadium practicing Recurve Bow.

Talking about the later ones, these days, 3 ambitious boys can be seen at M.B Stadium practicing Recurve Bow.

These 3 boys Kamlesh Arya, Dilip Singh and Chattar Lal Wadela who are residing at government hostel, practice at M.B. Stadium with their recurves for three and half hours in week days while they undergo a double practice session on weekends.

A glance over there family

Kamlesh Arya belongs to Kherwada. He is continuing his studies from Guru Govind Singh School in 11th standard and is working hard with recurve and bow from past 2 years.

Dilip Singh is from Banswada, he is studying in 11th class at Guru Govind Singh School and is learning archery for past 1 year.

Chattar lal Wadela is from Jhadol Phalasia village located in the outskirts’ of Udaipur. He is in 9th class at Railway School.

These kids belong to families which are below poverty line. Fathers of all these boys are farmers.

About their archery career

Kamlesh Arya has recently won a gold medal in State championship held at Hanumangarh between 21 and 26 September 2012. He also represented Rajasthan at national tournament last year in U-19 category.

Dilip Singh has learnt archery from the local instructor at M.B Stadium. He played district and state championships with Kamlesh securing bronze in State and silver at District tournament.

Chattar Lal with other two will be representing state in a national tournament to be held in the month of December.

Obviously, the archers have the required talent and, given an opportunity, they will prove themselves on various grounds and levels including Olympics. But the young ones are afraid as after completing their schools, they will have to purchase their own recurve bow; for now, the equipments are provided by the hostel.

Recurve Bow is an Olympic recognized sport and have different rounds based over distance from target and hits. Distances viz 30, 60 and 70 meters and hits are divided into 10 equal rings, each measuring 12.2 centimeters. Archers are required to aim at the center.
