European Championship, the much coveted football championship has become the latest sporting event casualty due to the pandemic of Coronavirus.
UEFA, the governing body of the Euro Cup, announced that the championship will be postponed to 2021, following a crisis meeting today, as tweeted by the Norwegian Football Association.
Lockdowns in several countries and border closures across the continent has brought football to a standstill amidst the coronavirus pandemic. This has led the administrative body to cancel the tournament and postpone it to 2021, from June 11 till July 11.
The other tournaments in the domestic circuit and league circuit viz. UEFA Champion League, Europa League will continue over the summer, subject to restrictions being lifted in time.
Euro Cup will take place across 12 cities in Europe, viz. Budapest, Amsterdam, Baku, Bucharest, Bilbao, Dublin, Copenhagen, Glasgow, Munich, St Petersburg, Rome and London. The semis and finals will be held in London. This schedule is expected to remain unchanged.
