FIFA World Cup Winners to Receive Championship Rings for the First Time
FIFA has introduced Championship Rings for the winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Along with the trophy and gold medals, the champions will receive a custom-made ring, marking a historic first in football.
July 18, 2026: Winning the FIFA World Cup has always been marked by lifting the famous trophy and wearing a gold medal. Now, for the first time in the tournament's history, the world champions will also receive a Championship Ring as a lasting symbol of their achievement.
FIFA has officially announced the introduction of the special ring, inspired by the long-standing tradition of championship rings awarded in major North American sports leagues such as the NBA, NFL and MLB.
The decision comes as the World Cup is being hosted in North America, with the United States, Canada and Mexico jointly staging the tournament. FIFA believes the new tradition will add another memorable honour for the champions.
Special Ring for Champions and Limited Edition for Fans
According to FIFA, a total of 2,026 Championship Rings will be produced to mark the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Of these, only 30 rings will be reserved for the players and coaching staff of the winning team. The remaining 1,996 rings will be released as officially licensed collectibles for football fans around the world.
Each championship ring will feature the FIFA World Cup Trophy on one side. The other side will display the champion nation's emblem, team colours and identity. Every ring made for the winning squad will carry a unique serial number and will be custom-made to match the finger size of each player and staff member. Each ring will also come with an official certificate of authenticity.

Immediately after the World Cup final, the captain and head coach of the winning team will receive a temporary Championship Ring during the trophy presentation ceremony. The permanent rings will later be manufactured according to individual measurements and officially presented to the players and coaching staff.
The introduction of the Championship Ring brings one of North America's most celebrated sporting traditions to football's biggest stage. It adds a new symbol of success alongside the World Cup trophy and the winners' medals.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final will see Argentina and Spain battle for the title. Argentina will be chasing its fourth World Cup crown, while Spain will be aiming for its second.
Whichever nation lifts the trophy will make history by becoming the first FIFA World Cup champions to receive the new Championship Ring, adding another unforgettable honour to football's greatest prize.
