First Gold, Now Silver: Rajasthan’s Dragon Boat Triumph
Rajasthan Dragon Boat Mixed Junior Team wins silver medal at the 14th National Dragon Boat Championship in Bhopal against top Indian teams
Udaipur, Jan 9, 2026 - The Rajasthan Dragon Boat Mixed Team has won the silver medal in the Junior Category D-10, 500-metre Mixed Event at the 14th National Dragon Boat Championship in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh). The contest was tough with top competitive teams from Kerala, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and renowned sports academies but the Rajasthan team held up with a stellar performance. It, however, narrowly missed the gold medal by just a few milliseconds.
The winning participants are Kanishka Kumawat, Saksham Kumawat, Shagun Kumawat, Mansvi Sukhwal, Anant Singhvi, Naisa Paneri, Kulvardhan Singh Shaktawat, Charvi Kumawat, Manas Sukhwal, Parth Singh Chundawat, Jai Gurjar, Parth Kumawat, Devendra Singh and Tejasvi Joshi. Team coach was former international medalist Tanishk Patwa.
Congratulatory messages have poured in for the winners from officials of dragon boat, kayaking and canoeing associations and federations from across the country. Association Chairman Chandragupt Singh Chauhan said the players’ outstanding performance has resulted in the State leading in both Senior and Junior Mixed events at the national championship.
Asian Canoe Federation and Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association president Prashant Kushwaha has expressed confidence that the Rajasthan Kayaking Association would continue to provide international-level facilities to these players, enabling them to progress further and represent India on global platforms.
A grand welcome has been planned for the team upon its return to Udaipur.
