Future Chess Grand Masters in the making
Udaipur’s Mudit and Arpita emerged as champions in the State Sub-Junior (under 15) Chess Championship that concluded in the city today. This event was organized by the All Rajputana Chess Organization and hosted by the King’s Chess Club with Yogesh Hingad as the Chief Judge.

Coach Vikas Sahu informed that Mudit Babel from St. Anthony’s School won the ‘Boys’ category with a score of 6.5 and Arpita Jain from Central School (KV) won the ‘Girls’ category with a score of 5.5.
Of the top Eight players in the event, Seven hailed from Udaipur. In the ‘Boys’ category, Manthan Chittora, Himanshu Vaya and Swyam Bhargav secured second, third and fourth positions respectively whereas in the ‘Girls’ category Shruti Bangar, Lakshita Bangar and Runjhun Chaudhary (Chittorgarh) secured second, third and fourth positions respectively.
The first four winners in both the categories were awarded trophies and a monitory award of Rs.1000, Rs.750, Rs. 500 and Rs. 250 respectively and the remaining participants were given Certificates and a Souvenir.
Selected players from the event will participate in the National Sub-Junior Chess Championship that will be hosted by Maharashtra later this year.
