Udaipur's Gaurav Sahu Wins 2 Silver, Overall Bronze at Asian Powerlifting
With a total lift of 575 kg, Gaurav secured the overall bronze medal in the Asian Senior Equipped Powerlifting Championship
Udaipur, Dec 8, 2025 - Udaipur’s Gaurav Sahu has won two silver medals and an overall bronze medal in the 59 kg weight category in the Asian Senior Powerlifting Championship currently underway in Istanbul, Turkey.
This information was given by Vinod Sahu, organising secretary of the Rajasthan State Powerlifting Association, who informed that Gaurav lifted 230 kg in the Squat event, securing a silver medal, while in Bench Press he lifted 112.5 kg, and in the Deadlift he lifted 232.5 kg, earning another silver medal. With a total lift of 575 kg, Gaurav secured the overall bronze medal.
In this category, Nanzaddorj Erdenebold won the gold medal while Oleg Rybka of Russia won the silver.
This is the first medal for Gaurav in the Asian Senior Equipped Powerlifting Championship. Earlier, he had won a bronze in the Asian Sub-Junior Powerlifting Championship held in Hong Kong and four gold medals in the Asian Junior Powerlifting Championship held in Turkey.
This time, by winning the overall bronze medal in the Asian Senior Equipped Championship, Gaurav has once again brought international recognition to Rajasthan. Recently, he also performed brilliantly at the World Senior Powerlifting Championship held in Romania, where he secured sixth position globally.
