Former Indian Cricketer Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the Head Coach of the Indian Men's Cricket team. He replaces Rahul Dravid whose tenure as Head Coach ended with a scintillating World Cup victory that would be the dream ending for a coaches career. Dravid led the Indian side to T20 World Cup victory in June 2024.
Gautam Gambhir's new innings as Team India Head Coach, begins with the series against Sri Lanka, which is starting from 27 July, as confirmed by BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah.
The announcement was followed by a Tweet by Jay Shah, where he expressed confidence that Gambhir, with his expertise and understanding of the transition that cricket has gone through, is the ideal person to steer Indian Cricket ahead.
Gambhir, on his part, took to the microblogging platform "X' and tweeted that he is honoured to be back as part of the Indian Cricket team, which has been his identity, but this time with a different badge of responsibility.
