February 12, 2026: India head coach Gautam Gambhir spoke about the idea of “home” before the team’s T20 World Cup 2026 match against Namibia. The game will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on February 12. It is a special match for Gambhir because he is returning to his hometown.

He said home means family, love, and peace. He shared that life in international cricket is not simple. The team travels a lot and faces pressure all the time. There are many tough days and sleepless nights. In such times, the support staff becomes very close. Gambhir said that coaches and staff understand the emotions of the game and often feel like family.

Gambhir has a deep link with Delhi. He played many matches for the state and also led the Delhi IPL team in the past. He even scored his highest Test runs at this stadium. After becoming head coach in 2024, he focused on building a strong support group. He works with assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate and bowling coach Morne Morkel, whom he knows from earlier IPL seasons. He feels this trust helps the team stay united.

Keeping the team's mood light is important

Gambhir also said that the team must enjoy small happy moments. He believes players should feel free and relaxed during practice and in the dressing room. Funny moments help reduce stress, especially in a big tournament like the World Cup.

India will play Namibia with a chance to move to the top of Group A. After that, they will face Pakistan in a big match. Gambhir feels that staying calm and positive will be very important as the tournament moves ahead.
