Dipa Karmakar, the first ever Gymnast to represent India in the Olympics has found a place of pride on a special cover released by India Post.

Being a rare honor for sporting personalities in the country – Shuttler, PV Sindu; Wrestlers Sakshi Malik and Gymnast Dipa Karmakar found their place in a special cover released by the Indian Postal Department, titled “Golden Girls of India – Pride of Nation” during a district-level philatelic exbhibition in Agartala.

Agartala born Dipa Karmakar missed out on a medal in the Rio Olympics and finished fourth in the Women’s Vaults finals.  Dipa, known for her death defying Produnova vault, is also the first Indian femal gymnast to get a Bronze at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.  Further on, Dipa along with Sindu and Sakshi was also awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 2016.  By attempting the Produnova Vault, Dipa became the Third Girl in the history of Gymnastics to do so.  Watch her Video
