May 13, 2026: The Gujarat Titans became the first team to officially qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs after registering a dominant 82-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in a one-sided encounter on Monday. Defending a target of 168 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Gujarat delivered one of the most complete bowling performances of the season and bowled SRH out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs. The convincing victory also pushed the Titans to the top of the IPL 2026 points table with 16 points and strengthened their position as one of the strongest contenders for the title this year.

The run chase turned into a complete disaster for Hyderabad right from the opening over. Mohammed Siraj gave Gujarat the perfect start by dismissing dangerous opener Travis Head for a duck. Soon after, Kagiso Rabada struck twice to remove Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan cheaply. SRH were reduced to 23/3 within the first four overs, and from that moment onwards, the Titans completely controlled the match. The Hyderabad batting unit looked under pressure throughout the innings as wickets continued to fall at regular intervals without any meaningful partnership.

Rabada and Jason Holder led Gujarat’s bowling attack brilliantly by picking up three wickets each. Prasidh Krishna also played a key role with two wickets, while star spinner Rashid Khan chipped in with another wicket to complete the domination. The Gujarat bowlers consistently attacked the stumps, maintained tight lines, and never allowed SRH batters to settle at the crease.

Heinrich Klaasen tried to resist with a small contribution of 14 runs, while Salil Arora scored 16, but none of the SRH players managed to play a match-changing innings. Captain Pat Cummins remained unbeaten on 9 runs, but Hyderabad’s innings ended in disappointment as they were bowled out for one of their lowest totals of the season. The score of 86 has now become the lowest second-innings total recorded in IPL 2026, going below Gujarat Titans’ previous low score of 100 against Mumbai Indians earlier in the tournament.

Earlier in the evening, Gujarat Titans posted a competitive total of 168/5 in their 20 overs after a disciplined batting effort from the top and middle order. While the batting performance gave them a solid platform, it was the bowlers who completely stole the show with their ruthless display in the second innings. The victory not only confirmed GT’s playoff qualification but also sent a strong message to the remaining teams that the Titans are serious title contenders in IPL 2026.
