Hardik Pandya Makes Surprise Move to Bengaluru; Here's Why He Left Mumbai
Hardik Pandya has permanently shifted his training base from Mumbai to Bengaluru to make the BCCI Centre of Excellence his primary training hub. The India all-rounder hopes the move will aid his recovery, improve his fitness, and help prolong his international career.
July 01, 2026: India all-rounder Hardik Pandya has made a major career decision by permanently shifting his training base from Mumbai to Bengaluru. The move marks a significant change in the way the 32-year-old plans to prepare for the remainder of his playing career.
For several years, Pandya carried out his off-season training at the Reliance Corporate Park in Ghansoli, the high-performance facility used by his IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians. However, he has now relocated to Bengaluru and rented a house on the outskirts of the city, close to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE).
According to a report by the Press Trust of India (PTI), Pandya will become the first Indian cricketer to make the Centre of Excellence his permanent training base whenever he is not on national, state, or IPL duty. Living close to the facility will allow him to access world-class training, rehabilitation, and recovery resources throughout the year.
"Hardik has already permanently shifted to Bengaluru. He has rented a property on the outskirts of the city, close to the CoE. He will be the first Indian cricketer to make the CoE his permanent training base for the remainder of his career," a BCCI source told PTI.
The report further stated that Pandya decided to leave Mumbai because travelling daily from his residence in Lower Parel to the training facility had become increasingly difficult. By moving closer to the Centre of Excellence, he hopes to spend more time focusing on his fitness and cricket rather than long commutes.
As a centrally contracted India cricketer, Pandya has unrestricted access to the BCCI's elite training facilities, including injury management, strength and conditioning, sports science support, and skill development sessions.
"Hardik wanted to move out of Mumbai, as commuting every day from his Lower Parel residence for training had become a problem. As a centrally contracted cricketer, he has access to every facility at the COE, from injury management to skills training. Hence, he took the decision to make the COE his permanent base whenever he is not on IPL, state or national duty," the source added.

Hardik Pandya focused on recovery and long-term fitness
Pandya is currently recovering from a quadriceps injury suffered at the end of the IPL 2026 season. The injury ruled him out of India's white-ball tour of Ireland, and he is also expected to miss the upcoming limited-overs series against England. His availability for the Zimbabwe tour will depend on his recovery over the coming weeks.
The India all-rounder has also invested heavily in his personal fitness setup. In addition to using the BCCI's facilities, he has hired a private physiotherapist and a strength and conditioning coach to ensure he remains in peak physical condition.
According to the PTI report, Pandya is determined to continue playing white-ball cricket for India for at least another five to six years. He is also willing to bear additional expenses himself, including paying net bowlers for specialized batting sessions whenever required.
"It is like shifting his base to Bengaluru as long as he plays white-ball cricket for India, and he intends to play for at least another five to six years. Even when he does skill work, such as batting against net bowlers hired by the COE, Hardik pays them from his own pocket," the source told PTI.
By relocating to Bengaluru and making the Centre of Excellence his permanent training base, Pandya has underlined his commitment to extending his career. With easier access to world-class facilities and a dedicated support team, the India star hopes to return stronger and continue performing at the highest level for years to come.
