Complaint Filed Against Hardik Pandya for Insulting National Flag After T20 World Cup Final

March 12, 2026: An advocate has filed a complaint with the Pune Police seeking an FIR against Hardik Pandya. The complaint says that Pandya insulted the national flag during the victory celebrations after India won the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 in Ahmedabad.

A police officer from Shivaji Nagar Police Station confirmed that the complaint was submitted by advocate Wajid Khan. According to the complaint, Pandya wrapped the Indian tricolour around his body and behaved in an inappropriate way while celebrating India’s win against New Zealand national cricket team.

The complaint states that the act could be an offence under the law and that action should be taken. It also said that every citizen has a duty to respect the national flag.

Pandya Reflects on T20 World Cup Success

Earlier, Hardik Pandya spoke about winning his second straight T20 World Cup title with India. He said the victory was the result of a promise he made to himself after the 2024 tournament.

Pandya scored two half-centuries in the tournament, including a quick 52 off 28 balls against Namibia national cricket team. He also took nine wickets during the competition.

Speaking to Star Sports, Pandya said that after the win in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 final in Barbados, he promised himself that he would aim to win every tournament he played.

The 32-year-old all-rounder was also included in the International Cricket Council Team of the Tournament for the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Pandya also spoke about the difficult period he faced before the 2024 World Cup. He said many things were not going well in his personal life, but he decided to make a strong comeback and help India win the title.

In the 2024 tournament, Pandya took 11 wickets and scored 144 runs. He said winning trophies for India has always been his main goal.

India created history by defending the T20 World Cup title. The team also became the first to win the tournament three times, after their earlier victories in 2007, 2024, and 2026.
