Udaipur, Dec 27, 2025: The Indian women’s cricket team delivered a brilliant performance in the third T20I of the ongoing five-match series against Sri Lanka. The match was played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on December 26, where India registered a comfortable eight-wicket win. With this victory, India also clinched the T20I series.

Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur scripted history for India, as she went past former Australia skipper Meg Lanning to become the most successful captain in Women-T20I history. Harmanpreet now has 77 wins, while Lanning finished her career with 76 wins.

Sri Lanka batted first and were bowled out for just 112 runs. During the run chase, Shafali Verma played a brilliant knock, helping India secure the win with ease.

Harmanpreet Speaks After Series Win

Speaking after the match, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur shared her happiness about winning both the game and the series.

It's been a great series for all of us. After the World Cup, we discussed that we need to raise our standards and play more aggressive cricket in T20s because another World Cup is coming. I am very happy with our overall performance,” Harmanpreet said during the post-match presentation.

She also praised the bowlers for their strong contribution. “In T20 cricket, bowling is very important. Today we are in this position because of our bowlers, so the credit goes to them,” she added.

Speaking about the bowler rotation in the powerplay, Harmanpreet explained the team’s plan. “In the first six overs, we knew their top order was very important. That is why we went with Renuka. She can give us early breakthroughs. The first over was not what we expected, but the way she came back and took four wickets was great,” she said.
